Monday 24 of May, 2004 at the Highland Park Town
Hall, Rothchild-Wright Group Inc. LLC pitched their proposal to
manage the city water supply on a ten year contract, to the City
Council and public.
Buoyed by a 9 -3 thumbs up (one abstention) vote by the
Highland Park Leadership Steering Committee, the proposal went down
to a 4-1 defeat by the Council, the surprise vote being that of
Ameenah Omar, President of the
Council who had previously voted for the proposal on the Highland
Park Leadership Steering Committee.
It now remains to be seen if City Manager
Ramona Pearson will enforce her executive privilege and approve the
Rothchild-Wright Group contract against the desires of elected
representatives of the city.
