We (The Citizens) are told anything just to keep our mouths shut, and most of us do just that.I watched the cable cast of the meeting with our Governor, and the only two groups that had a spokesperson expressing their concerns. Was the Michigan Welfare Rights, and the Highland Park Block club people.Politics is the roots of our problems. We need to elect people who will stop telling lies to get in office, and as Citizens we need to come together as one.During the time when community canidates was begging citizens to vote for them. They all was talking good game, and was biting at each other's throats. But now that the election is over, all have forgot the lies they told, and the City is still at the same spot it was before the new so-called City Adminstration took over. It's not what your community can do for you,but what you can do for the community. |

I read with great interest, your last posting Brother William. I no longer live in Highland Park, I now live in Texas. While I no longer live in H.P., she is still in my heart. It's a DAMN SHAME, that more people in H.P. cant have a LOVE for H.P., like you my Brother. I grew up in H.P. in the 60s, left in the late 80s, and it makes me very sad, that politics, has to rear it's ugly head, when more hard work, and understanding, is what is nedded, to bring H.P. back, to her full glory |

" Hotep " Greetings Citizens of Highland Park, and thanks Brother Thomas, for your support to your hometown. After reading a many of your posts you have written to HPFOLKS,I must give to you the " Black Power " salute. You are over a 1000 miles from here, and you seem to show more faith in the comeback of Highland Park, then many of our city citzens do. There is a big differences in Loud Talking, and putting forth action in what is said. This water issue has been going on way to long, and it's all in the game of politics.Thomas, I am glad that you can't see how our alley, and many the neighborhood blocks is looking like the city dump.I had faith in our newly elected City Adminstration, that things in the city would get better. It's seems that Building Woodward Avenue, and putting up $145,000 housing projects,is more important then making our neighborhoods crime, and drug free.To all Citizens who has joined the long fight to make our city neighborhoods a better place. Thanks for putting forth effort. This is a situation that calls for ALL citizens to chip in to change things. I will always do my part as a community activist/advocator,and let's all join in to help to bring back Highland Park, to it's full glory. William AkbarX |
