This sent to the admin: WATER TOWN HALL MEETING WED, JUNE 25, 2003 from five to seven PM at WHPR TV 33IRadio Station 88.1 FM 15851 Woodward Aye, Highland Park (south of Puritan, park on streets) OPEN TO ALL! LAWYERS WILL BE ON SITE In HighI and Park, Detroit, Hamtramck, and other Michigan cities, citizens who cannot pay ever-rising water bills have had service cut off. Congressman Conyers calls this situation "a matter of life or death" and declares water a human right. We have talked to other politicians who agree with this but they move too slowly to fix the problem. We must take a leadership role in this crisis--in this American tragedy--and force these renegade water departments to stop this scandalous practice of cutting off service! If you are behind, in danger of a shut-off, or already without water and want to get something done about it - BRING YOUR WATER BILL and be prepared to discuss your case. We have invited a legal team to talk with us about how we can legally force these city departments to accept what we can pay and NEVER turn off water where people are living. Join us to plan strategy that will secure water rights for us all! People want to know, "Are we going to get our water bills paid at this meeting?" The answer is, "If you don't want to get involved in the fight for your own rights, why should anyone help you?" Don't come and we promise that nothing will happen! No water? No peace! FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS! Sponsored by Michigan Welfare Rights, Sweetwater Alliance-Detroit, Highland Park Human Rights Coalition, and Central EZ CSSC Need information?
