Can anybody tell me why the city is sitting on so many properties? I know of several on my street alone that are falling apart. Are we to sit and watch these beautiful old homes, that the city owns, crumble and create bigger eyesores for the rest of the communities. Why can't we get people into these homes (I for one, am interested in buying one of them)with proper finical backing to restore them. Imagine the revenue this could bring back to the city by selling them, let alone potentially raise the values of the other homes in the area. I would imagine that any money comming into the city off of there sale and taxes is better than them sitting there vacant and decaying. Has code enforcement been by to issue any tickets for the run down properties they own? I highly doubt it. |

Musician' I was born and rasied in Highland Park, lived there for 25 years, and the things you are bringing up, have been going on for years. Inept people running thing's, that they know nothing about. It would make to much sence, to sell city property, to someone, than would improve said property. It's better to bitch, piss and moan, about how bad our city is beeing treated, instead of doing thing's, that are postive. |

The sad fact is there is too little intelligentsia left in HP. We have to make do with what we have. Most of the movers and shakers have - well, moved. |
