Driving down the Davison a couple days ago I started waxing poetic about the way the freeway looked when I was a boy in the 80s. Does anyone have any pictures/links/books/etc. about the way the Davison looked before they rehabbed it? I always thought that it was the neatest (if not most dangerous) thing I ever saw. I remember the wide spacious shoulders! Actually there were NO shoulders, the steeply sloped grass started AT the curb. Davison is a freeway where you will not spin other cars and hit walls and catch them on fire. |

I liked the bus pullouts and the stairs down from of the seven bridges over Davison [Hamilton, 3rd, 2nd, Woodward, John R, Brush and Oakland] to catch the bus. Buster is walking on the Davison. |

H.P. Watchman, my Dad was a Cop in H.P., and he told me, that one of the funnyst thing he ever saw, was when the were chasing a stolen car, the driver went into the parking lot of the school on the edge of the Davidson Freeway, hit the fence, and was slingshot back into the School it self. Totaled the car, but the driver was not hurt. |

People who was born in other countries is always amazed at a different scene.I guess you would have freaked if you was here in Highland Park when the Davison bus used to run on the expressway, and stop on the Davison Expressway at Woodward to pick up passagers, and drop them off. Back in them days the Davison roadway would stop under the railroad bridge, and would turn into Davison Street on the East, and it would start at that same point on the East, and would end on the West at Hamilton. Yes the Davison Fwy is part of the Highland Park history. This was back in the 1950's early 1960's. |
