I must be getting old........LOL. 30 years ago things like that wouldn't have bothered me, but now it pisses me off to watch our city be taken advantage of. WOW...........I was trying to look something else up and up popped this site....lol. Hello Thomas! Hope everything is going good for you. Yes they fired Art and he denied it all the way to the bank. I new it was going to cost us more than a $1 a year and to make matters worse, the powers to be will probably will sweep it under the table just like they did when he was drunk and ran into my mother's car about 30 years ago at john r & McLean(remember that art)...............................The city needs to get rid of all the cities employees (police,fire,council,mayor,appointee's and staff and replace them with new citizens that haven't been corrupted yet.........ok end of my rant | ||

I lived at 197 McLean, fifth house from Brush, on the left side of the street,facing Oakland. I now live in Texas,have the people who live there now, cleaned up the house? My Father died, in July of 2002, and when I came home for the funeral, I was heartbroken, that such a lovely old house, was let go to seed. Dear Mr Hillard, I guess you would pass out if you could see how the City is being invaded by curbside trash and garbage,and nobody seem to care.However they are all happy about the $140,000 homes in North Pointe,housing comes first as we walk or drive over the mounds of garbage on our streets,and now the trash have taken over the alleys.This is a update on the city where you used to live.Now you see why we are down to 16,000 residents,and more will leave before the game is over.Take Care Mr Hillard,and it's nice to know your mind is still focus on home. | ||

Sorry it took so long to respond Jeff, yes, I have two brothers, and one Sister.I was just up there for a Funeral, and was pleasently surprised, that most of the houses, on McLean are still, in good shape. Otis's and Malcolm's house are gone, and Gene's house is falling apart, but for the most part, quite nice. The street, though is another matter. Back when H.P. was going strong, McLean was a fire run street, and was always, kept in good condition, not so now. Also, I only saw one Wayne County Cop, and they were on Woodward, so much for Police protection. | ||

when davison went under construction, everybody seemed to come down mclean, the street took a beating. has been patched ever since. who was the old man across the street in the brown wood house thats all overgrown forgot his name. i remember him poping us with a bb gun, for picking his apples LOL then mr tony always getting after us, damn that was a long time ago. | ||

That was Gene, he died about 30 years ago, and then GeorgeDdeidian bought the house, and aslo bought Roscoe's house, on the corner of McLean, and Brush, two door's from Mr. Grimm's house. Gene not only had apples, he also had Grape's, Peache's, and Pears. Gene was always cool with me, because I would talk to him, for hour's, when he told me story'sry, of way back in the day. Jeff, how close did you live to Mr. Houston? He taught me how to play Chess, when I was about 9 years old. also Jeff, do you know Malcolm Debabian? Anonymous, I don't think getting your ass beat to a pulp, by the BIG FOUR, gained any respect for the cop's. The cop's that gave you some slack, and treated you like a person, were the one's that got respect. | ||

No my Brother slept up there, and at times I did to, but my Brother did mainly. George lived on the corner of Brush, and McLean, on the South east corner. Malcolm lived next door to the Hollingshed's. Mr. Houston lived about three door's from Malcolm, on the same side of the street.I don't remember the Johnson's. | ||
