yes. The wayne county sheriff's Operation Pride folks are very accommodating although it depends upon the number of "low-risk" prisoners that volunteer to do the clean up. they can cut their sentences by joining the work force but not all want to work in lousy weather, so as the fall turns into winter, I'm not sure we'll get as much help--however, mother nature slows down the growth pattern and we may not need as much help. However, I would like some help painting out the grafitti on the plywood covering the front doors. Since a blank surface is an invitation for grafitti, an artistic work that covers the doors would be a long term deterrant to repeat grafitti. Steve, would you like to help plan a good artistic cover for the doors? |

Hi Katherine, Sure! I'd be glad to help. I've been tempted to put my own grafitti on those tempting panels for some time :-) |

I just wanted to say thanks to all who participated in the McGregor Library clean-up on July 31. My son and I really enjoyed coming down to Highland Park to help out, and we especially enjoyed meeting so many of you who make Highland Park a very special city. Because of your hard work, McGregor Library grounds are looking so much better, just as she deserves. You have reason to be proud of such a wonderful marvel of architecture. Shane and I made the drive home on Saturday more hopeful and confident than ever that Highland Park is destined for greater days to come. Thanks again for your friendship and kindness! Thanks so much for coming and helping us Darwin. The Rhode Islanders myself included enjoyed meeting you. The food and water you brought was from your city to add to what Rhode Island Block Club brought was very, very generous and greatly appreciated by all of the workers. We few, all "older" ladies could barely lift our bottles of water out of the car. You and your son's store and carrying ability helped so very much. The library looks so much better. I'm sure the citizens like myself, feel much better about ourselves seeing it now! The project and the results lifted our spirits! Thank you so very much. Please stay in touch with us as we intend to do with you. Thanks you Mr. Arkbarx and Stephen Goodfellow. Jane Robinson, President of the Rhode Island Block Club |

" Hotep " All My People. For sometime now I have walked or rode pass the McGregor library, and my heart sink at the site of the library not being used. However the newly founded CITIZENS 1 GROUP,and myself have created and developed a plan that would re-open the library. We are currently working on some legal protection ideas, and once we get the okay to present it to the city ecomonic development dept. Then the plan will be introduced to the public. At this very moment the contents of the plan will not be availible to anyone.Remember it's not what your community can do for you,but it's what you can do for your community. Power to ALL people. Your's Truly William AkbarX (Citizens1Group/Community Activist) |
