Could anyone tell me if there is any progress with the library? Are there any plans for re-opening, any initiatives (and if so, who is in charge)? As a former resident of Highland Park, I would like to help, and all information would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your response!

Dear Anonymous. There is plans being made to bring our library back to life.At a meeting last night (Nov 10th) Mr Fred Durhal updated the citizens who attended the meeting that there is a group of community citizens,as well as a committee that's working with him to reopen the city's historical landmark site.If you was once a citizen of Highland Park, there should be no shame to your claim about being from Highland Park.As you see this site have many names of true Highland Parkers. We do not mind the world knowing we are Highland Park. However there is people who like to be sneaky, and that does not matter one bit.Again,We are Highland Parkers, and we are proud to be citizens of Highland Park. |

I'll ask if Fred Durhal can find the time to post an update on the library to HPfolks. |

**Attention** Community.I admire anyone who is concerned about the process or progress of the re-opening of the Highland Park library. It's a honor (myself) to sit on the Highland Park McGregor Library steering committee.Which means any of the steering committee memebrs can give a update on the library.Fred Durhal also sits on the Library committee, and the majority of the time Fred is busy working on other community projects.Tracie Armstead-Payton is the Committee's chairperson, and I suggest to e-mail her at T.Armstead@ATT.Net or My e-mail address is WilliamAkbarX@Earthlink.Net. I will see to it that a update on the project is posted here on HPFOLKS,and in the near future the committee will be hosting a town hall meeting just to talk about the Library project.I encourage citizens who moved to Highland Park within the last 15 years to attend the City Council meetings every third Monday, and there is other committees that's working to improve Highland Park.Once anyone have visited this site HPFOLKS,and reviewed the information that's posted pass the information on by the word of mouth. |
